Chopta is a picturesque hill station in Uttarakhand, often called the "Mini Switzerland of India," and serves as the base for the famous treks to Tungnath (the world's highest Shiva temple) and Chandrashila peak. Located at an altitude of about 2,700–2,900 meters in the Rudraprayag district, Chopta is nestled within lush meadows, dense evergreen forests, and offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks, including Trishul, Nanda Devi, and Chaukhamba.

Itinerary Overview


Chopta Bird Photography Trip (Dehradun to Dehradun) 4 Nights & 5 Days 


Day 1: Arrive at Jolly grant airport, Dehradun early morning and drive to Mandal (7-8hours) 

Reach Mandal in evening and rest. 

Overnight at Mandal 


Day 2: Full day birding at Mandal (Mandal is a small village near Chopta inside the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, hosting few rare

finches and woodpecker in its forest)

Overnight at Mandal 


Day 3: Early morning drive to Chopta (30 min). Upon reching Chopta trek to Tungnath. Morning session dedicated to photographing Monal and Koklass Pheasant. Afternoon and evening birding session in the forest trails of Chopta.

Day 4: Full day birding in Chopta and Tungnath.

Day 5: Early morning checkout from Chopta and drive back to Dehradun Airport.

  • Clothing: Light, neutral-colored cotton clothes; full sleeves; cap/hat.
  • Essentials: Water, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, camera (no flash).
  • Rules: No loud talking, littering, or feeding animals.

Cancellation policy

  1. All cancellations before 30 days of the event date - 100% credit
  2. All cancellations between 20 - 30 days of the event date - 50% credit
  3. All cancellations within 20 days of the event date - No credit possible
