Bharathpur Bird Photography Workshop on January 30- 2 February 2026

Keoladeo National Park in Bharatpur, Rajasthan peaks for winter migrants from late January to early February, offering over 300 species reliably during this window. Prime targets include massive flocks of waterfowl, raptors, and wetland specialists perfect for photography in soft winter light.

📍 Location: Keoladeo National Park, Bharathpur, Rajasthan 

Early-morning and late-afternoon sessions inside Keoladeo, using cycles or rickshaws plus local guide. 

Conditions are excellent for winter migrants in this window, with park timings around 6:30–17:00 in winter.

​Dedicated rickshaw-wallah–guide (many are top spotters) for flexible photography stops.

Best activity: sunrise–10:30 and 15:00–sunset; mid-day for rest, image backup, and habitat recce.

​Itinerary Overview

Day 1 – Jan 30 (Arrival + PM session)

• Arrive Bharatpur by late morning or early afternoon; check in, quick lunch, and gear prep.
• Enter park by 14:30–15:00; winter timings allow entry till ~17:00, with birding workable to sunset.

Day 2 – Jan 31 (Full day in Keoladeo)

• Enter as gate opens (~6:30 in winter); heavy fog possible, so start with closer subjects and silhouettes.
• Morning (6:30–10:30): work main wetlands and side trails for ducks, waders, darters, herons, storks, eagles, and possibly Sarus Crane; use cycles for quick repositioning.
• Midday (11:00–14:30): return to hotel for breakfast/lunch, rest, card backups, gear cleaning; optional brief town birding (weavers, mynas, doves) if light is soft.
• ​Evening (15:00–sunset): second session deeper inside (e.g., Hanuman temple area, watchtowers, larger water bodies) for flight shots and warm light portraits; consider short boating session if available for low-angle waterfowl.

Day 3 – Feb 1 (Morning session + departure)

• Early entry again at ~6:30; target species or habitats you missed (e.g., owlets, bitterns, specific ducks, Sarus, raptors).
• ​Wrap main birding by 10:00–10:30, exit park, late breakfast, check out.
• Depart Bharatpur late morning or afternoon depending on your train/flight; trains connect Bharatpur Jn. to major cities including Hyderabad with overnight options.

🧭 Additional Tips:

• Clothing: Light, neutral-colored cotton clothes; full sleeves; cap/hat.
• Essentials: Water, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, camera (no flash).
• Rules: No loud talking, littering, or feeding animals. Stay seated in the vehicle at all times.
