Kaziranga Tiger Reserve - Wildlife Photography Expedition 15-18 April 2026

Kaziranga National Park is a protected area in the northeast Indian state of Assam. Spread across the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, its forests, wetlands and grasslands are home to Golden tigers, elephants and the world’s largest population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses. Ganges River dolphins swim in the park’s waters. It’s visited by many rare migratory birds, and gray pelicans roost near Kaziranga village.


Kaziranga has 4 main safari ranges:
  • Central Range (Kohora) – Best for rhinos, elephants, good overall wildlife
  • Western Range (Bagori) – Highest rhino density
  • Eastern Range (Agaratoli) – Best for birds & wetlands
  • Burapahar Range – Good for forest species & hiking


Day 1 – April 15

Arrival & Western Range Safari
Arrival OptionsFly to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (Guwahati)
Drive to Kaziranga: 4.5–5 hours
Route: Guwahati → Nagaon → Kaziranga

Afternoon
Check-in at lodge near Kohora range
2:00–4:30 PM

Jeep Safari – Western Range (Bagori)
Best sightings:Indian One-horned Rhino, Wild Water Buffalo, Swamp Deer, Elephants, Hog Deer, Fish Eagle, Golden Tiger, Leopards and Great Hornbill

Early dinner & rest

Day 2 – April 16

Jeep Safari + Central Range
9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Breakfast at Lodge

Jeep Safari – Central Range
Possible sightings:Rhino mother with calf, Wild elephants, Bar-headed geese, Jungle fowl
Tigers and Swamp deer

Lunch + Rest
3:00 – 5:30 PM
Jeep Safari + Central Range
Possible sightings : Rhino mother with calf, Wild elephants, Bar-headed geese, Jungle fowl
Tigers, Swamp deer, Oriental Pied Hornbill

Landscape shots in tea estates are beautiful.

Day 3 – April 17

Drive to Eastern Range – Agaratoli
Jeep Safari – Eastern Range

Possible sightings :Pallas's Fish Eagle, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Lesser Adjutant, Bengal Florican (rare), Pelicans, Storks
Mammals:Rhinos, Wild buffalos and Elephants

This range has wetlands and river channels.

Lunch
2:30 – 5:30 PM
Burapahar Range Safari
Habitat: Forest + hills
Possible sightings:Capped Langur, Hoolock Gibbon, Barking Deer and Hornbills

Day 4 – April 18

Final Safari & Departure
6:00 – 9:00 AM
Repeat Safari – Western Range
Last chance for:Big rhino encounters, Elephant herds, Swamp deer and Tiger 

Return Drive back to Guwahati Airport

Carry 400–600mm lens for birds
Rhinos can be very close → 70–200mm useful
